Pick a Fight

"When you've got an opponent to beat, it increases your motivation to win. This year, choose an enemy to fight and rally your team around it."-Fast Company

THE ENEMY = OUR WEIGHT

Hi everyone!  We had our first weigh-in last night and it was shocking, awesome and somewhat brutal all at the same time.  We were weighed in on camera and our weight was posted on a what felt like the biggest screen I had ever seen in plain black and white (you can see it in the link below).  There it was the dreaded number, my weight plain as day for everyone to see.  It was hard to swallow but that's all part of it, and I saw that I have lost two pounds in two days.  Here is to many more pounds falling off!  Now, onto the Fitness Challenge.

As for the Fitness Challenge, it was rough! None of us knew what to expect and I think when we all heard cardio challenge, we got a little weak in the knees.  Here is the workout for the Fitness Challenge:
  • 100x up and down the risers with a 5 pound weight in each hand
  • One mile run
  • 100x jump rope
  • One mile on the eliptical
  • One mile on the spin (stationary) bike
Whew...I am tired from typing all of that.  How did we get a winner in all of this?  During each round they only took the individuals who completed the challenge first.  So, for the riser challenge the first sixteen who completed it got to move onto the next round, etc.  The final challenge was the one mile stationary bike ride and whoever had the fastest timed mile won and my teammate won!  Go team Lafayette! In case you wanted to know I made it into the top four out of the 22 contestants.  I got beat in the one mile eliptical challenge by two seconds, next time they won't be so lucky:)  On a side note, we are all winners in this.  There were over a 1,000 applicants and they only picked 22 contestants...so we all win in some way.

Remember when your mind and body say to not go to the gym-pick a fight with yourself, get motivated and get that wokout in.  You will feel great and proud that you did that for yourself!
